summarization of obesity articles

The two articles that we went over today in class were "Brazilian Obesity: The Big Girl from Impanema" and "Health and Fitness: Snip, Suction, Stetch and Truss". These two articles are both talking about different serveys that go on in therir country. The first survey that I read about was the one on Brazilian Obesity. This article talks about how in Brazil obesity has increased steadily but the obesity rate from what you read is still very very low over in Brazil. The percentage of obese people in brazil is somwhere between 13 and 14 percent which compared to the rest of the world is extremely low. The kinds of food that people eat in Brazil are foods that are not too fatening or have too many callories. Brazilian people exercise alot and it is always very hot so the combination of the kind of food they eat along with the exercise and heat helps them to stay in shape and have a low rate of obesity. The percentages of obesity that the article gives you is it says that 13 percent of brazilian adults are obese. Out of the 13 percent 12.4 percent of the obese people are male and 13.6 percent are female. The government and writers in Brazil are saying that if Brazil doesnt change its ways then it is going to be in for a unhealthy and expansive future. The next article that we went over in class was Health and Fitness: Snip, Suction, Stretch and Truss. This article is all about the physical abuse that people are putting themselves through to look younger, and how much they are paying for it. People now of days can have all kinds of surgerys done to themselves to make themselves apear younger than they really are. People are haveing their face cut to reduce lines on their face, getting their stomaches cut and stapled to make themselves look skinnyer, and many other procedures are out for people to have to change their appearance and make themselves look younger and skinnyer.
