Pandora and Last FM
Today in class was a fun and interesting one. We went down to the computer lab and used the computers to look at two free music sites that anyone can go onto and use. The first that we went on to was a site called Pandora. Pandora is a music site that allows you to type in the exact song you want to hear and it will bring it up for you and talk about the history of the song and band that you are listening to. The coolest thing that the Pandora site has to offer is when you do type in and pull up the song that you want to listen to it will give you a number of different songs and bands that are alike to the band that you brought up and it will create a "radio station" the plays only those songs that you approve of and will save your various stations to the profile that you created. The next web site that we look at was one called Last FM. Last FM isnt entirely different from Pandora. The major difference in the two websites is that Last FM also plays the song you typed in's music video. It will search the web or its database for your song and its official music video. I think that both of these web sites are amazing for giving out such a service for free, but if I had to pick one of these to use the most it would be Pandora because it allows you to create stations for yourself and at the same time shows you other music that is simalar to the music you chose to listen to and thinks you would like so you can find new music to listen to as well. The class today was extremely fun and would love to do things like this in the near future.
my writing center visit on descriptive essay
In class we have started to discuss and write a descriptive essay on a semi new phenomenon called "vloging". Vloging is when any person makes a video of themself and puts it on the internet for viewers to watch as they please. One persons vlog could be watched by millions of people or and a handfull, but the number of people is normally not important. What is important is that the maker of the vlog puts themselves out for the world to see and is able to experience vloging and decide how they feel about it. And in many cases vloging has changed peoples lives and way they think about the world, as silly as it may sound people have found themselves in their vlogs. The most popular way of vloging by far is by way of the constant streaming video which is youtube. The vlog that I decided to write my descriptive essay about in the end is a vlog that is by a name called Supermac18. I chose this vlog because it is full of animation and colors and other things that you could go into deep detail about when you start to describe the events in the clip. Our class was instructed by Mrs. Crawford to make and go to an appointment in the english writing center. I made my appointmet early and had it. It was as always a great help to myself and my rough draft paper that I had brought to the meeting. The thing that I wanted to go over and emphesise the most in the meeting was how I could make my paper full of description but at the same time make it flow to sound good. My tutor went over the paper with me sentence by sentence to help me see the changes we were making and how he was helping me with the exact thing I wanted to go over the most.

2nd comment on friends blog
The other person that I chose to comment on about their blog was Justin. And more specifically the blog one blog that I decided to comment on out of his others is the one titled “what we did in class!!!” this blog is about the new things that he is being challenged with as a new college student and more specifically in our English teachers class Mrs. Crawford. He talks about the new assignments he is being challenged with like having to write blogs that are steadily getting larger and larger. He talks about the things we are having to do in class such as group discussions and having to comment in class practically every day in order to get credit for the day because one way to earn credit is to actively participate in class and start discussions. All in all I believe that Justin’s blogs are well put together and enjoyable to read.
1rst comment on friends blog
The first blog that I decided to comment on is from my friend and classmate Chris. There are multiple blogs that he as has put out on blogger.com, but the one that I wanted to comment on was the blog about his “fixing papers”. This blog was all about how Chris and I helped each other fix our papers that we had to write for English class. He wrote the process we used to fix our papers up to what we believed were presentable. After writing our papers the day before we went into class prepared to revise for the first time. The thing that I most needed to work on was making my paper longer, much longer actually. And the thing Chris wanted to work on was fixing small things such as repeating words. In class we joined up into groups and took turns passing around our papers in the group and reading them out loud so we could actually hear the problems that we faced. And when we were done reading them all and discussing them we were supposed to pick out one question that we had about our papers and then when we went to the writing center to revise our final draft with a tutor we would have to present the question you came up with and make that your main point of focus. My question was “How do I make my paper longer?” Chris’s question was “How do I make my paper flow more?” Chris ends his blog by hoping that we did good on our papers and get good grades on them

blog on "first vlogs"
after watching the you tube video "the anthropology of you tube" which was very eye opening and made me look at you tube in an entirely different way, we are looking at something that the video talked very much about which is "vloging". Vloging is when any person goes on to you tube and makes a video of themselves and simply talks about themselves, and this could be their very first vlog or their 100th vlog. it is simply about putting themselves out their for whatever their reasons are. some people do it simply to entertain themselves and others, some do it for class assignments, and some do it so they can simply vent to someone because they find it more comfortable to speak to a computer camera than to another person. the vlog that i chose to write about is one on a girl named esemee denters. she is from the Netherlands and is a now famous singer in America that has recently released her first single and has become a smash hit especially on you tube. her vlog is simply to talk to her fans and tell them more about herself, she wants her fans to have a more personal connection to her and her music. attached to this blog are multiple videos of her singing songs that she enjoys singing and of course her hit song. in the vlog she tells viewers her interests and intentions in music and also things that she is personally interested in. she says that she has an "obsession" with Egypt and points the camera in the direction of her walls to she the audience all of the Egyptian posters in her room. she simply wants to connect with other people and her mass number of fans and experiment with her own comfortability boundries to improve herself
The Antropology of YouTube
The way I used to view YouTube was either a way to look up how to do something i wanted to learn or to look up something that would entertain me for a little while before i go do what i really wanted to do with my day. I would have never thought that it is as important to people as breathing. After watching the antropology of YouTube i have completely 180'ed my first thoughts about YouTube. It is all the things i said it is but it also has a much deeper and richer use and meaning. Before geting into that topic though i want to talk about just a couple of the facts of YouTube and see if you can wrap your mind around them. on YouTube their are 9232 hours of video are uploaded in a single day which is the equivilant of 385 always on television channels and is 200000 3 minute videos which is not mass media, 88 percent of content coming through is new and original. The people on YouTube are able to express themselves in completely new and exciting ways and show it to anyone that cares to watch. Anyone can find anything on YouTube. Weather its songs, shows, songs about YouTube, "how to do" whatever you want to learn, or people just acting silly the possibilities are endless. aproximately 15 percent of videos on YouTube are remixes of previous videos. The song crank that solja boy started on you tube as a kid that made the song and dance and simply posted it on YouTube that blew up into what it is today. In conclusion YouTube is all of the things i spoke of in this blog but to countless numbers of people it is much much more than that. their are people on YouTube that dont make videos to be noticed but instead to coap with their every day lives. they can either simply vent to the "invisible audience" or make up persons that they find ammuseing to bring people together with themselves and that above anything else helpls them coap with life. they believe in the most simple of medicins is laughter
